I DON'T speak like I've had a brain injury, and nor does my wife, who was born and lived in Romford for 41 years. The Essex accent example here, crept in during the 1950s and 60s...it was considered to be a LAZY way of speaking...mainly by [proud to be] arrogant and ignorant people. Believe me, I'm not a snob in any shape or form. To listen to so many Essex MALES...I think I'm listening to someone who is bordering on being effeminate...

I was born in Essex, as were my parents, but we don't say any of these phrases. We are pendantic about saying words correctly though. I think that comes from an insecurity about 'Essex people are thick' stereotypes. When we moved to Wiltshire, our neighbours' kids weren't allowed to talk to us 'in case they picked up the accent'.

I've had weight loss surgery, and let me tell you, it's been a long and thirsty 11 years! For people in my situation, if you eat and drink anything together, it's coming right back out the way it went in. But, I will have a little sip if something is dry.
